What Are Your Non-Negotiables?

I’m on a mission to become the best possible version of myself and if you’re with me, this post is for you.

In order to achieve this, I’ve decided to pick a few non-negotiables, you know, things that I haveto do, now excuses. These are the things I’ve identified that I must do in order to achieve my goal of becoming the best possible version of myself.

This was inspired by a video I recently watched on YouTube where the creator suggested you pick 3 goals to work on for the next few months and break them up into smaller daily goals to help you achieve them. My goals are to get fit, read atleast 12 books this year and to get top marks for my modules.

My Non-Negotiables

To do this, I’ve decided on these non-negotiables:

Exercising a minimum of 3 times a week

There are 7 days in the week, I can find a way to workout 3 of those days. They don’t haveto be intense workouts, they just need to get done.

To keep myself going, I watch series on my phone while I’m walking or running on the treadmill. This helps me not to focus on how tired I’m getting. An episode could be a minimum of 30 minutes so if I finish one while I’m walking on the treadmill I’ll have completed a 30 minute workout.

If I manage to do more, that’s amazing!

If you have time to watch a series you have time to work out.

Read daily

Every single day, I make sure I read a few pages. I always keep a book with me whether it’s in my handbag, my desk at work or in my car that way whenever I feel bored or just feel like reading, there’s a book available got me.

I incorporated some daily Bible reading in my routine as well. I try to read it either in the morning when I wake up or in the evening before I got to bed. It’s included on my habit checker and it’s one thing I make sure to check off every day.

Study daily

I’m pursuing a marketing qualification so it’s important for me to study as much as I can to get the best results. It’s quite an enjoyable course but it is also alot of work. To ensure I stay on top of my coursework I make sure to work a little every day.

I squeeze assignments into my work day especially when it’s not busy.

I’ve signed up for a LinkedIn Premium trial so I’m also doing a few marketing courses there. I’m finding them very useful and informative and I’ve picked up a few tricks already.

What are your non-negotiables to achieve your goals? If you haven’t identified them yet, take a few minutes to think about it and start working on them.
