I was having a weird day and didn’t want to talk to anyone. In a nutshell, I was feeling kind of blue.
I’m not 100% sure why I started feeling this way, I was having a pretty average day.
It must have been a combination of frustration, feeling stuck and unaccomplished and being worried about my financial situation and the limitations it brings with it.
While sorting through my own feelings, I decided to write this post to help me to sort through what was going on inside my head.
These are some of the things that help me to rid my negative emotions and make me feel better so I’m sharing them with you today.
Doing at least one of the below will get you closer to feeling your merry self in no time!
THINGS TO DO WHEN FEELING BLUE
Go for a walk
Walking has many benefits, including being a natural blues reliever.
A breath of fresh air can do wonders for your mood if you let it.
Talk to someone about it
This can be a professional, family, friend or anyone you feel that you can trust and speak to openly and honestly.
Talking is a good way to share your thoughts and feelings and get things off your chest.
Additionally, if you don’t want to talk then you can…
Write about it
Writing your feelings down is a great form of expression. It can help you to sort through and better understand the way you’re feeling and why you’re feeling that way.
Seeing your thoughts down on paper (or your phone) could help you figure things out and stop feeling blue.
Grab your diary or journal and write down whatever it is that you’re feeling. This may help lift some weight off your shoulders and lighten your mood.
Call one of your besties and have a good laugh
This always works for me!
If you don’t necessarily want to talk about what’s making you feel sad and blue, calling up one of your mates and having a laugh is a great mood booster.
If you don’t wanna laugh then maybe you could vent?
Do something spontaneous
Lifehack.org says that this is one of the best ways to free your mind of negative thoughts.
Being spontaneous may give you that energy boost you need to lift your spirits.
Furthermore, you can think of something you’ve never done before or have been dreaming to do, go out there and do it!
It doesn’t even have to be something drastic. For me, spontaneously buying new clothes or jumping into the car without a destination in mind and seeing where the road takes me, makes me feel 100x better.
Writing this post really did help me to feel better. I hope that next time you’re feeling blue you’ll give one of these tips a try. Hopefully, melt the blues away.
What are some of the things you do to help you feel better?
Share them with me in the comments and remember, feeling down from time to time is alright. You should acknowledge your feelings (even the negative ones) but don’t let them consume you.
Figuring out why you feel the way you do may also help you to find a way to feel better.
xoxo
Writing about my thoughts always helps me when I’m feeling down! Love the suggestions x
Writing your feelings out or talking about it definitely helps a lot. Cuddling with a fluffy dog helps for almost anything, so I strongly recommend it.
Oh yes, cuddles are amazing!
Walking and getting a workout while listening to my favorite songs always help me out when I am feeling blue. I always end up in a great mood afterwards ready to take on the world. Great post! 😊
Yeah, working out is also a great mood booster. Thanks for reading my post😘
