I haven’t been posting much but I just wanted to share a quick update.
I’ve been asked to join a boxer’s team!
Pro Boxer Lutho Mbuko, through his foundation, is working on a project to raise funds to help pay off outstanding fees for Law students at WSU. I’m super excited and honored to have been invited to be a part of something so great.
To show us a bit of the boxing world, the team was invited to watch the Women’s Month Celebration Boxing Feast at the Orient Theatre in East London. I must say, boxing is a sport I now enjoy.
I got to go backstage to the dressing rooms and see some of the boxers getting amped up before their matches. Man, I was impressed but how good the women were and seeing it up close and personally.
Prior to this event, I hadn’t been exposed to boxing much, except the handful of matches I’d watched on TV. But watching it LIVE is an entirely different experience!
Personally, I would never have thought to go and watch live boxing and I’m glad I went. It was so thrilling and my adrenalin was pumpjng, man, what a rush!
And the atmosphere was just something else and the energy from the supporters filled the theatre.
Admittedly, I was a bit apprehensive about going because I thought I’d haveto introduce myself in front of a crowd of people. My anxiety kicked into full gear for a bit because public speaking has never been my friend . Thankfully, I didn’t haveto say a damn thing hahaha.
It’s so beautiful to see women’s boxing being celebrated and promoted, especially seeing as it’s women’s month. Boxing ladies do not get enough credit! It’s empowering to see such strong, powerful, confident women kicking ass – literally.
I’m looking forward to attending a few boxing lessons myself in the near future, and when I do, I’ll tell you all about it.
P. S. For fear of being punched in the face, I shall not be getting into any rings.
Laters.
