Creative Corner: Tanika – Missybeelondon Blogs

Sup y’all? Hope you’re doing well and you’ve had a good week and making the most out of life.

Welcome back to another segment of Creative Corner, where you meet creative individuals from all niches, backgrounds and all corners of the globe that will hopefully inspire you.

Today I’ve brought you a new and fascinating blogger to follow.

Meet Tanika, UK blogger and author of the blog Missybeelondon where she creates content covering natural hair and lifestyle.

When did you start blogging and what inspired you to become a blogger?

I started blogging in the middle of 2017 a little while after starting my YouTube channel in January 2017. My content centres around natural hair and lifestyle. Im exploring doing more advice content.

What actually inspired me to become a blogger and do blogs was when I actually got into the swing of it, giving exposure to small black-owned businesses by doing product reviews and sharing content about natural hair.

To be honest, at the beginning of my Youtube channel I used to wear wigs as I thought it was aesthetically pleasing for my audience, but then thought I have good natural hair on my head let me create content on how I style and look after my hair and have been consistent with natural hair content from then to now.

I dabble with makeup, but if I don’t really wear makeup Normally full face, it was an effort to do makeup videos and I didn’t do much.

What have you been doing to keep yourself busy during the lockdown due to Corona Virus?

Ok, so I took a break from writing blogs in early 2019, but during lockdown, I was inspired to start writing again. And the fact I seem to write more than doing videos. Guess this is a change and using my blog posts to share information and content.

Attending many free online webinars on Zoom or Facebook, gathering useful information that I can use in the future.

Not watching too much TV during the day, and not watching the News too much either.Creating content for all my social media platforms. Of course, job searching and looking for opportunities to better myself, and self-development.

When you’re not working on your blog, what do you enjoy doing?

Please don’t laugh, I got back into using TikTok during being on lockdown. I am not a pro doing the TikTok dances but I have fun doing TikTok videos.

I have continued to create content on my Facebook page and Instagram. And YouTube videos, but not been consistent on my channel, but enjoy doing live streams.

I have been watching so many shows and films on Netflix, waiting for Greenleaf in July and Lucifer in August.

Just waiting for things to get back to decent normality, to go to events and socialising. And to enjoy the rest of the summer without worry.
Being a natural hair blogger there were many events but had been cancelled due to the virus and social distancing.

Even though I am an introvert, I do miss properly socialising with people.

How do you manage to run your blog efficiently? Are you using apps and if so, which ones?

Right now I do not have a schedule, I think of ideas, get the information and write up blogs.

Even though I have been blogging since 2017, there have been interruptions and I sadly lost my first blog page domain. So I’m starting again with my new blog page.

I may have lost many good blogs, but starting again is a new beginning and I am ready for everything it brings.

Slight confession I procrastinate just a little but don’t really think I can blame it on the pandemic. And my concentration is not the best but pushing through, when moments of creativity happen I am ready for it.

I am trying to grow my Pinterest page as it is a great way to get traffic to my blog page.

What makes you unique as a blogger?

I would say I am a unique blogger because of the style of my blogs and how I create content. I say it how it is. Check out my Youtube channel (Missybeelondon).

I am still trying to figure out my writing style aka tone of voice, but right now for me, it’s better just to get the content out.

Has blogging made an impact on your life and how?

Blogging or twisting it to creating content has had a good impact on my life; especially during being in lockdown.

Have a good productive outlet for all that is going. Keeping my brain busy and having something to do, as job opportunities have not been the best during being in lockdown.

What did you want to be when you were younger and what are you now? Are you enjoying it and why?

Lol, when I was younger in secondary school I wanted to join the Army, only because I heard you got paid good but didn’t know the aspects of going to war, risk of death and all that.

Sadly, I am not where I want to be at this moment in time. But right now it is all about planning for the future.

What would you say is the biggest challenge facing young women today?

The biggest challenge facing women today is that there is still a strong male dominance in certain job sectors to crack.

When you get writer’s block, how do you go about regaining your inspiration?

I am not sure I get writer’s block, but I do get distracted very easily. So I always tryto write down my ideas and then when I am in the writing moment I write the posts.

I have many posts that are private right now.

To be a successful blogger you need…

To be a successful blogger you need to be authentic, create posts that are useful and relatable.

Know who your audience is. Be consistent. Create a community.
