Healthy Habits to Incorporate into Your Daily Routine

Drinking Water

Your body needs water to thrive.

Have you noticed how good you feel and how everything seems to function as it should when you’re well-hydrated?

Your skin glows, and your digestive system works well.

I know water can be boring but there are a number of ways to increase your water intake such as adding a slice of lemon o cucumber to give it a different taste and drinking different types of water. You could also “enhance it” with fresh mint leaves.

Another way to increase your water intake is to ingest foods that are mainly water such as watermelon, cucumber and celery to name but a few.

Exercising

Regular exercise has numerous health benefits, including improving cardiovascular health, building strength and endurance, reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, improving mental health, and promoting healthy sleep patterns.

To get the most benefit from exercise, it is recommended to engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise per week, as well as strength training exercises at least twice a week.

Exercising is also great for weight management and maintaining a healthy weight.

Not only is regular exercise beneficial to your physical health, but it’s also good for your mental health too.

Prayer & Meditation

It’s important that we feed our souls and we can do this through prayer and meditation.

Building a closer relationship with God can be a huge life changer for those of us who are religious. Prayer can help you through tough times in life and also just be a way of talking to God when you need someone to talk to.

Meditation on the other hand also has amazing benefits for your mental health such as stress reduction and improved sleep.

If you don’t know how to meditate there are apps you can download to guide you.

Journaling

There are various types of journals one can keep, for example, a prayer journal and a gratitude journal.

Journaling is a great way to express yourself without fear of judgement and to clear your mind of all the thoughts buzzing around in your head.

This can help you to ease stress and anxiety as well as possibly boost creativity.

If you don’t like writing by hand, you can journal using an app you can download on your phone.

There are many benefits to journaling including emotional healing, increased gratitude and positive thinking and recording your life so that you have something to look back on. It is also said that journaling will help you improve your problem-solving skills.

You can journal first thing in the morning or before bed, I prefer to do it before bed to reflect on my day and help clear my mind to get a good night’s sleep.

Reading

“Great Reading Spots To Enjoy A Good Book”

I find reading so much fun and a great way to escape into another world. I don’t read as often as I used to and must actively make time to read, which I prefer to do before I call it a day.

One of my favourite book genres is thrillers and one such book I enjoyed was Knife by Jo Nesbo. You should read it if you’re also a fan of thrillers.

You should read because it’s a great exercise for your brain and it improves concentration and creativity, among other things.

Limit screen time

As a society, we spend far too much time online and on social media. We’re constantly staring at our phone and computer screens.

Limiting screen time will help you to

No screens before bed.

Incorporating healthy habits into your daily routine is essential for maintaining good physical and mental health.

  1. I’ve began to make it a habit of reading at least 10 minutes before I go to bed. It’s much better than scrolling through social media, and I make sure to drink plenty of water too!

  2. I’ve actually incorporated all of these habits so I can agree that they are life changing. Drinking water makes such a difference to your entire mood. The same goes with journalling. I have so many thoughts that I need somewhere to offload lol Great post

  3. I have been getting awful headaches recently, so definitely need to make sure I’m getting enough water! Reading is one of my favourite things to do to relax 🙂
