Blogger Prelene Singh creator of Life On An Eyelash blog

What inspires you to write/blog and where do you get your ideas from?

I have always been a writer, growing up I had a journal where I would write a daily entry of my day, my thoughts and what I was looking forward to the next day, next month and next year. This stayed with me and I went on to study journalism and received an honours degree in this field.

Now with the help of the internet, I am able to transform this into an actual website. My content has transformed obviously with age and now I love beauty and lifestyle as well as health and wellness.

My content is informative, involves reviews, my thoughts and tips, D.I.Y of things I experiment with and also motivational and inspirational life posts. I get my ideas from everywhere and everyone. Anything that inspires me, I brainstorm how to angle the writing and jot down thoughts. My blogger mind never sleeps.

Besides blogging, what else do you enjoy doing/what are your hobbies?

I am a PR specialist by day and blogger by night.

When I’m not doing this, I dance. I am a semi-professional dancer in Latin and Ballroom and spend most of my time in the studio training.

When I’m not working on my technique I am with friends and family. I love the outdoors and exploring and experimenting with new restaurants and activities, playing with my dogs and enjoying the good ol’sunshine.

How would you describe yourself?

I am a very determined and ambitious person, who has a heart only for animals. I am passionate with the things and people I love. Pretty versatile and able to adapt to my surroundings quite easily. It’s either black and white with me and I’m extremely loyal and dedicated to my crafts and the things I enjoy.

What is your biggest fear?

Probably drowning in the sea, and/or dying.

How do you de-stress after a long day?

A hot shower, lavender in my candle burner, cuppa hot Chai and my favourite series.

What’s your favourite movie?

I have several, it changes every week. But my all-time favourite has to be Dirty Dancing.

What is your day job and what is your favourite thing about it?

I am a Conversation Architect at JNPR. A PR manager in short.

What I love the most is I get to work on several clients from different industries every day. I’m constantly learning and expanding my knowledge.

PR is so diverse and exciting and the people we get to meet and work with is fascinating and sometimes we make friends for life.

What do you do to keep fit?

I dance. Sometimes I hit the gym, and on occasion, I walk/jog around the block or attend a Pilates/yoga class.

What is your “get up and go” song?

Anything to do with Nasty C or Rowlene at the moment.

What is the most difficult challenge you’ve ever had to overcome and how did you overcome it?

I think this is an ongoing struggle, and that is learning to accept the things I can’t change. I can sometimes be very specific and A-type about a lot of things. A perfectionist.

I have had to teach myself to accept the things that are out of my control. I listen more, I think before I speak, I accept and I move on.

I think learning to work and exist among people is hard sometimes and the only way to make it easier is to accept everyone for who they are and accept that they aren’t like you.

Lastly is there anything else you would like us to know about you?

I am a traveller, coffee and chocolate addict, my favourite cocktail is a cosmopolitan and favourite colour is pink. I am a girly girl and also and your boy’s best friend, I am chilled, easy-going, love laughing and dancing.

Music speaks to my soul in a different language and I will be your friend for life.
