Creative Corner: Denisiya – EatMee Recipes

Welcome to Creative Corner a platform where I interview creatives from all over and we get to see what they’re all about.

This has been my longest-running series on the blog and I must say, I thoroughly enjoy getting to know fellow creatives.

We have a foodie joining us today! Her name is Denisiya and she is the proud editor of EatMee- South African Food Recipes; where you can find recipes from different cuisines from all over; not just South African dishes.

Her hobbies include cooking, baking and creating new, tasty, mouth-watering dishes.

Denisiya’s food blog was her idea to help those who need great recipes and cooking tips.

Hello Denisiya!

Denisiya EatMee Recipes – blogger

What inspires you to write/blog and where do you get your ideas from?

People inspire me to blog. I am a food blogger and began blogging about recipes to help others find their way in the kitchen. There are many people out there that don’t know the basics of cooking and that’s where I come in. My blog has step by step images to help beginner cooks prepare each dish with ease. I have also started a YouTube channel whereby I do a video of the dish as well.

Besides blogging, what else do you enjoy doing/what are your hobbies?

I absolutely love watching movies and binge-watching series, specifically anything in the horror or thriller genre. Being the foodie that I am, I also love trying out new restaurants and the food they have to offer.

How would you describe yourself?

I’m a food blogger and restaurant reviewer, also, a web and graphic designer. I am a neat freak. I get that from my mum.

I’m also a dog person, I have a fur baby of my own. I hate procrastinating, I like to get things done and over with instead of leaving it all to the last minute.

What is your biggest fear?

The day that I have to say goodbye to my fur baby, Soldier!

Don’t judge me lol, I spend most of my time with him and he has become a member of the family. I’ve had him for 2 and a half years now and brought him home when he was just 7 weeks old.

He puts a smile on my face even on the dullest of days. So yeah, that’s my fear, departing from my baby boy.

How do you de-stress after a long day?

A long bath, hot cuppa and a movie or series always does the trick.

What’s your favourite movie?

The Conjuring. It is my ultimate fav! There’s a whole list of others that I consider favourites too, but I’ll leave that for another day.

What is your day job and what is your favourite thing about it?

I am a Graphic and web designer. The favourite part about it is that I get to let my creative side out. It’s what I love, and I get to do it from home too! This also gives me ample time to do a recipe here and there as well for my blog.

What do you do to keep fit?

Do chores count? I don’t gym or eat healthy because I’m always planning my recipes for my audience and of course that can’t go to waste but being the neat freak that I am, cleaning for 3-4 hours a day always gets my heart pumping.

What is your “get up and go” song?

9 PM (Till I Come) – ATBI am a 90’s baby so I grew up within the era of the legendary 90’s playlists. This soundtrack always gets me in a good mood – specifically a dance mood!

What is the most difficult challenge you’ve ever had to overcome and how did you overcome it?

Getting people to actually use my blog and the whole marketing side of things. When I first started blogging back in 2016, I can honestly say that I had probably 2 users a month on my blog!

I worked really hard by just telling everyone I meet to check it out, social media has also helped tons and today I am proud of my persistence to grow, I can happily say I get around 12000 users per month now that use my blog.

It just makes me happy that I can help others out there.
