Back in The Mother City

On May first, I took a flight to Cape Town to come and look after my baby sis.

It felt so good being back here even though I wish it was under better circumstances. I loved how familiar everything felt.

Honestly though, despite how expensive it is, this is a city I could see myself living in long term. Too bad my job is in East London (ZA) at the moment.

I took a week off work to be here; which is fantastic because it gives me more time to write. I haven’t been doing too much of that lately.

I’m suddenly feeling more alive and inspired now that I’m here. I really needed a break from home life.

I think for me, Cape Town is a city that just feels like home and I hope to make it my permanent home one day. But it’s so damn expensive! Definitely a place for people who are monied.

What I’ve noticed is that being here and away from my usual home environment has opened my mind up more and sparked some much needed creativity. I’m working better and look at me writing some new material.

I am on leave so I spend most of my days watching Netflix and just taking care of my sister. She’s almost at a hundred percent health now so I hope we’ll get to have a bit of fun before I have to leave.

My sister’s apartment looks even better than I remember. Then again last time I was here, I had to leave before she finished fully moving in.

Anyway, hopefully I will get tons of reading and writing this week because I have nothing but time. I would also like to check out some new places and maybe do an activity I didn’t get to do last time around.

It’s quite expensive to live here and at the moment I really would not be able to stay here full time. I would however love to come up here more than once this year.

I was originally planning on coming here for my birthday in June but since I’m here now instead, that’s highly unlikely.

Anyway, that’s it for now I guess. I’m busy cooking up some new content so stick around and look out for some new posts.

xoxo.
