Welcome to the blog.
I had such a stressful day at work the other day (on top of my stressful home life but that’s a story for another day). My boss just wasn’t in a good mood. Something to do with finances I’m sure and everything was so tense.
Anyways, I didn’t have a key to get into the house (long story), so after I dropped a file off I headed to McDonald’s to grab a bite.
When I finished my meal, I decided to share some stress management tips with you while I waited outside the yard for someone to come home because I didn’t have a key😂.
How To Unwind After A Stressful Day At Work
Just breathe
Do some deep breathing exercises and just take a time out. This will help you to calm your mind and relax.
Take A Long Bubblebath
There’s nothing like a steaming bubble bath to melt the stress away.
You could also get yourself some bath salts to put into the tub and soak in to help you relax after a long day.
Put on a Series You Enjoy, Kick Back & Relax
This is one of my go-to’s and the series I’m currently bingeing on is Law & Order. I am addicted to crime shows.
Do Some Gardening
You may be thinking, “What the heck, who wants to do more work after they’ve just had a long ass day?” but hear me out.
My vegetable garden is my sanctuary.
Stress just seems to melt away while I’m busy pulling weeds, cleaning my little patch and planting new plants.
It’s a great way to get my mind off whatever is stressing me out.
Connect
Connecting with friends and family is another good way to relax and let your hair down after a long, stressful day at work.
Call up someone you need to catch up with and have a nice long conversation and laugh. My go-to person is usually my sister.
Trust me, it’ll leave you in a good mood and you’ll have forgotten all about your stressful work day.
Read A Book
You may have noticed that I tell you to read every 5 seconds and that’s because reading will save you from a lot of stress in life, it’s true.
Reading is a great way to get lost in another fantasy world and forget about your troubles for some time.
Journal
Journaling is one of the best ways to rid yourself of negative and stressful thoughts. Write them down and get them all out on a piece of paper or use an app (like me) so you can stop thinking about it and move on.
Use journals to organize your thoughts and see how it impacts your life.
I’ve been using the Quillo app on my Huawei to journal daily before I go to bed. It helps clear my mind of intrusive thoughts that would otherwise keep me up at night.
It’s a great way to just unpack your day and helps with self-improvement and mental health.
These are just a few simple ways for you to unwind after a stressful work day.
What are your go-to methods? Share them with me in the comments.
