My Cool At-Home Workout Essentials

Hello buddy!

Thank you for popping in and if you’re reading this post about my workout essentials, that means that like me, you prioritise your health and fitness and kudos to you for doing that!

I try by all means to lead a healthy and active lifestyle and try to work out at least 5 days a week, the body needs time to rest and recover on the other 2.

I work out with a friend of mine via Zoom and having a partner makes the workouts more fun and you have some support while you’re breaking a sweat.

Keep reading to hear more about my workout essentials…

My Workout Essentials

Water Bottle

This is the most important because you HAVETO stay hydrated; especially when you’re working out.

Drinking water while you exercise is important to replenish the fluids you’re losing as you sweat.

Comfy, Breathable & Flexible Gym Clothes

You need these to do your workouts without any constraints from your clothes so that you can move freely.

I actually find gym clothes SO COMFORTABLE I wear them as everyday wear just to chill on the couch. One can never have too much gym attire if you ask me.

Most of my gym clothes were purchased from Cotton On and Mr Price Sports.

You don’t have to splurge on your gym kit if you don’t want to. Just comfy shorts and a T-shirt is good enough.

The most essential item of gym clothing to me is a sports bra. You need proper support for your tatas when you’re working out.

Yoga Mat

You need a soft surface to do your workout on and yoga mats are just the thing.

How much you spend on one is completely up to you. You can find them at sports stores and they last for quite a long time if you store them properly.

Resistance Bands

These are used for resistance training. I love resistance bands because you can use them to turn any workout into resistance training.

Sometimes I use them during Chloe Ting’s workouts to make the workout a little more challenging.

They’re quite easy to find and prices vary depending on the design and materials used.

Dumbells

I have 3 KG dumbells that I sometimes use during my workouts to intensify my arm workouts.

As stated on muscleandfitness.com, one of the benefits of adding dumbells to your workouts is promoting coordination and stability for muscles and joints.

Dumbells are great for building as well as toning muscle. They don’t have to be very heavy to be effective either.

Don’t be shy to use them, ladies, they won’t make you look manly!

Skipping Rope

I love skipping for cardio (good for heart health), it’s a fun, playful way to workout.

Sometimes I skip before or after doing my workouts sessions, depending on my energy levels.

And how did I almost forget to mention…

Samsung Galaxy Fit fitness tracker

I like to make sure my watch is charged before I workout because I like to keep track of my fitness activities, check my heart rate to see if I’m pushing myself or just being lazy and see how many calories I’ve burned when I’m done exercising.

Having a fitness tracker has been a true blessing to me because now I walk more than ever. I make sure to get as many steps as I can in the day, the goal being 10 000; especially on my rest days.

To conclude, if you’ve just started or are taking your workouts seriously then I’d suggest you invest in some of these items.
